Umrah

"Perform the pilgrimage and the visitation (Umrah) for Allah. But if you are prevented (from doing so), then (offer) in sacrificial animals whatever is easy for you." Quran (2:196)

Explanation of terms

Al-Umrah means "The Visit". Yet, in Islamic law the term refers only to the short pilgrimage that Muslims make to Makkah to perform certain religious rites. In accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Requirements

Performing the great pilgrimage (Hajj) once in a person's lifetime becomes obligatory for the individual if the following requirements are met. These apply accordingly to the Umrah.

Performing

The minor pilgrimage can be completed in less than two hours throughout the year. In contrast, the Hajj is performed only at a specific time, between the 8th and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah, the last month in the Islamic lunar calendar. For more information click here: Umrah
