"And proclaim among the people the pilgrimage, so they will come to you on foot and on many gaunt (mounts), coming there from every deep pass." Quran (22:27)
Explanation of terms
Hajj literally means "to set out for a place". In Islamic law, however, the term refers exclusively to the annual pilgrimage that Muslims make to Makkah to perform certain religious rites in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Requirements
Performing the great pilgrimage (Hajj) once in a person's life becomes obligatory for the individual if the following are given. These apply accordingly to the Umrah.
